Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Our Clifton Park?
A: A website where all residents can learn more about the leaders
who make Clifton Park so great.
Q: Why is Our Clifton Park not overtly
partisan?
A: Our candidates are very popular with members of all political
parties and independents. We wanted to create a website that everyone would
feel comfortable visiting regardless of political affiliation.
If you would like to visit the political website the address is
www.cliftonparkgop.org
Q: Why didn't we see your candidate signs up until
recently?
A: We understand that voters have had a lot of elections over
the past year and wanted to give you a break from seeing signs all
over town in the public right of way. We began putting our signs out in public areas
on October 10th.. Our early sign effort was for
individual homeowners who requested our signs prior to October 10th. We feel that signs in yards is a true sign of
support of our candidates.
Q: How can I get a yard sign?
A: Just ask us for one -
CLICK HERE to request a yard sign now.
Q: Where can I find out more information about the
candidates?
A: We have a lot of constantly updated information about the
candidates in the
OUR LEADERSHIP section of the website. If there is an
issue you need clarification on you can ask the question using the
form on this page or e-mail a specific candidate in the
CONTACT US section. We
also have a
FACEBOOK page where you can interact and get updates.
Q: Why should I even vote? Both political parties
are the same and serve themselves only.
A: Unlike what you see at the National and State level our
candidates like you and I are part of the community. They are
true public servants who have a well documented record of delivering
results for Clifton Park Residents. People love living in
Clifton Park because of our Quality of Life, Low Taxes and sense of
community. Your vote is important so that we can continue to
deliver results for you. Please vote on November 3rd.
Q: Isn't your claim of no town tax a myth?
A: Opposing candidates have made this claim to confuse the voters.
If you look at the County tax bill you get on January 1st there is
No Town Property Tax.
There is a highway tax that costs the the average homeowner $32 and
provides maintenance of roads and storm drains, paving and plowing.
Some people believe that the School Taxes are impacted by town
leadership. The School Boards approve budgets to be voted on
and are elected in May. tf you question the School District's fiscal
irresponsibility the best way to make a change is to appear before
the School Board and to vote in School Board elections.
Q: Arent developers over developing Clifton Park?
A: Our opponents make this claim which is absolutely false.
Clifton Park under Phil Barrett's leadership has won 2 Smart
Growth Awards and 2 Statewide Recreation Awards. Our town is a little over 50 Square
Miles with ~38K in population that makes for 740 residents per mile.
This would equate to .86 acres per resident - hardly over crowded.
Q. Where can I get voter registration and absentee forms?
A. This items can be found on our
SUPPORT US PAGE
Q: Do you have to be a Republican, Independence or Conservative voter
to contribute to Our Candidates?
A: NO. Our Candidates receive contributions from members of
all political parties.
CLICK HERE to contribute now. You can
also mail in contributions to - CPGOP, PO Box 56, Clifton Park, NY
12065 (Political Contributions are not tax deductible for income tax
purposes)
Q: Don't you think it is time for Change with fresh new
leadership?
A: Unlike the dysfunction seen in Washington DC and Albany Our
Clifton Park Government officials have been delivering for Our
Residents through conservative management. While
municipalities all over the state and nation are struggling our
steady leadership has Clifton Park in a unique position of being
debt free with no town property tax. In these uncertain times
why would you want an unproven candidate when Our Clifton Park team
provides proven leadership in uncertain times.
Q: With a town our size isn't it time for a real police
department?
A: Over the years people with an agenda have criticized our
town policing model. This issue is raised without looking at the
facts. Our crime rate for municipalities over 30K in
population is the lowest in the Capital District. Our public
safety committee has studied this proposition in the past and our
Town Security Force's
partnership with the New York State Police and Saratoga County
Sheriff provides us the most cost effective policing model while
delivering a very safe community. All a town police
department would result in is having to impose taxes on the
residents who pay no town property tax today.
